FAQ

FAQ – HistorySearch.org

1. What is HistorySearch.org? HistorySearch is a history blog dedicated to Exploring the Truth of History through in-depth articles, timelines, and thoughtful analysis of major events, figures, and empires. We aim to tell accurate, human-centered stories—not just dry lists of dates and facts—so history feels alive and relevant today.

2. What kind of content can I find here? You’ll find detailed articles on:

  • Major turning-point events (e.g., the road to World War I, the assassination of Franz Ferdinand, the 1931–1933 Kazakhstan famine, the Holodomor, the fall of the Soviet Union in 1991)
  • Key historical figures (Wilhelm II, Ali Khamenei, Atatürk, Stalin, Franz Ferdinand, and more)
  • Rise and fall of empires (Ottoman Empire, German Empire, Austro-Hungarian Empire, Soviet Union)
  • Focus on the 19th and especially 20th centuries, with occasional broader topics.

3. Is this a search engine for history, like Google but for the past? Not yet! Right now we’re primarily a curated blog with high-quality, original articles. We do have a basic site search (check the Search bar or “Show More” / categories) to find posts quickly. In the future, we plan to build more powerful search and timeline tools.

4. Who writes the articles? Most content is researched and written by the HistorySearch team, drawing from reliable sources, books, and primary materials. We strive for balanced, evidence-based narratives that still read like compelling stories rather than textbooks.

5. Is the content neutral and unbiased? We make every effort to be objective by presenting facts, multiple perspectives, and full context. History is full of competing views—we try to show them fairly without heavy favoritism. If something feels off or incomplete to you, drop a comment or reach out; we read and consider all feedback.

6. Is the site free to use? Yes—completely free! No paywalls, no required login to read articles. We rely on traffic for now and may add optional donations or non-intrusive ads later if needed to keep things running.

7. Can I share or quote the articles? Absolutely—please do! Share links on social media, WhatsApp, forums, or your own blog. If quoting longer sections, just credit the source (e.g., “According to HistorySearch.org…”) and include a link back to the original article. Thanks for helping spread accurate history!

8. How can I contact the team? The easiest way is to leave a comment under any article—we read every single one. You can also email [contact@historysearch.org] (replace with your actual contact email) or message us on social media if we set up accounts.

9. Why so much focus on the 19th–20th centuries, Ottomans, Germany, Soviets, Iran, etc.? These periods contain massive turning points that still shape our world today—world wars, revolutions, genocides, collapses of empires. That said, we’re open to other eras and regions! If you’d like more on Southeast Asia, ancient civilizations, Indonesian history, medieval periods, or anything else, just comment or suggest it—we might turn it into the next article.

10. Are there plans for new features? Yes, we’re working toward:

  • Interactive historical timelines
  • Historical maps collection
  • “Compare Versions” sections for controversial events
  • Weekly newsletter with new posts
  • Possibly more multilingual content down the line

We build one thing at a time while keeping fresh articles coming. Patience appreciated!
